Jacques Amand

Jacques Amand was born in London in 1948, the son of a Dutch bulb merchant. Jacques' father produced his first catalogue 50 years ago to celebrate the coronation of the Queen.

On leaving school, Jacques Jr joined the family business which today markets the largest selection of bulbs in this country.

Not surprisingly, Jacques has been fascinated with plants from childhood and has travelled all over the world in pursuit of the new and unusual. In 1996 he was awarded the coveted Lawrence Medal for the best exhibit in any Royal Horticultural Society show that year. Jacques Amand has won no less than 18 Chelsea Gold Medals.

Marney first met John in 1990 in the early days of working at the Chelsea Flower Show. Jacques has supplied Marney with bulbs for many of her designs and medal-winning exhibition pieces.
