December 2004
Wednesday 1st
The Press Pack was delivered to the PR team this morning, after a sleepless night by the lasercutting factory. The finished product is stunning. I spend the entire day working on the PowerPoint presentation. Yesterday Nicky sent across the format she wants us to follow. This is brinkmanship taken to its ultimate level, as we only have today to get it right. The difficulties are compounded by the fact that none of us have ever worked in PowerPoint before. We finish working on the presentation at 7 in the evening, and mail it across to Nicky who works well into the night on integrating it into the other programs of events.
Thursday 2nd
The Press Launch, at the Charlotte Street Hotel, London. It goes extremely well. Our late night efforts with the PowerPoint Presentation are rewarded as it looks wonderful. We also announce that we are supporting the charity 'WaterAid' through our promotional material And WaterAid take the opportunity to do a short presentation of their own to the assembled press.
Friday 10th
The last 4head team meeting this year takes place. Everyone is delighted with the way in which the press launch has gone. All the journalists who had said they would come actually turned up and we had several representatives from both the BBC and commercial television who all expressed a keen interest in featuring the Garden. All the plants are now ordered, the stone will be delivered to Kevin at The Plantation in January and I feel now as if I can relax a little - until the new year, anyway!
