Philip Game
Artist and Folly-Builder
Born in London in 1947, Philip has always had a passion for the countryside. His childhood leisure activities centred around his love of art, sport and natural history. He studied art at Hornsey College of Art and set up his own company in 1974. Although trained in graphic design, Philip has always used his design skills to create everything from furniture to follies. He built his first folly in his own garden out of stone reclaimed from an old church spire.
Philip has been working with Marney Hall since 1991 on a variety of projects, designing bridges, gazebos and wacky garden buildings. His contribution to the Quarryman's Garden undoubtedly helped it win a Gold Medal at Chelsea in 1998. Philip's designs reflect the personality of the owner and the setting, becoming an integral part of the overall project. In 'The 4head Garden' Philip has designed integral elements of the garden and has also used his artistic skills in the creation of the watercolour of the garden and the production of the press pack.
